For Parents
Illness Policy
Colds, flu, and other contagious diseases are a serious issue in a school environment because they can spread so rapidly. Parents are asked to keep children home when they show symptoms of illness. If your child is ill, please call the school (610-489-1818) or email your child’s teacher to report the absence. If your child exhibits any active symptoms of illness during the school day, you will be contacted and asked to pick up your child. This is both for the child’s comfort and to minimize the spread of illness to other children in the school. The following tips are to help you decide if your child should be kept home from school:
- Fever – You are required to wait 24 hours after the fever breaks before sending your child back to school.
- Upset Stomach – You are required to wait 24 hours after a child vomits before sending your child back to school.
- Diarrhea – Loose and frequent stools have many causes. Do not send a child to school until bowel movements are normal.
- Strep Throat – Your child must be on medication at least 24 hours before returning to school.
School Closing Policy
Snow Days – We want to keep all our families safe. In the event that there is bad weather, an email will be sent to all families to notify them of snow days as soon as a decision is made. Please check with your child’s teacher to make sure she has the correct contact information.
Delayed Opening – In the event that the local school districts are opening late due to weather, Bright Spot will open at 9:30 a.m. Again, your child’s teacher will notify you by email as soon as a decision has been made.
Playground Rules
The fun doesn’t have to end at the end of the school day. Bright Spot is happy to share our playground with all of you after school. This is a great way to get to know the other families in our school. We want to keep everyone safe so please familiarize yourself with the playground rules. The same rules apply to after school as during school hours.
- We must stay in the fenced area. No one should be playing on the grassy areas outside of the fence or in the parking lot (this includes the parking lot at Kelly Insurance).
- We only go up the stairs and rock wall.
- We only go down the slide on our bottoms and feet first.
- The trees outside of the playground are not ours. We should not be pulling anything off the trees or climbing the trees.
- Mulch stays on the ground. We should not throw or dig in the mulch.
- No food is to be eaten on the playground.
Transportation Policy
With the exception of Kindergarten students, arrangements for transportation of children to and from school are the responsibility of the parents. Children will only be released to go home with those people authorized by the parents. Changes in transportation arrangements must be reported to the school in writing prior to pick-up.
